QUINN ENDS DONINGTON ROUND WITH SIXTH
Alex Quinn completed the second weekend of his Ford MSA Formula campaign with a sixth place finish.
The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver, who qualified on the front row of the grid in second place, was hoping to follow up on an excellent start to the weekend following overall victory in the opening race, and a ninth place finish in the reversed grid second encounter, of the soon-to-be renamed British F4 Championship.
A poor start to the race however put paid to any hopes of a second win, Quinn immediately dropping down to sixth place off the grid. Quinn’s pace was more than sufficient to pull away from any threats from behind, quickly establishing a lead of 2.5 seconds to Jamun’s Jamie Caroline in seventh.
That enabled Quinn to focus on the battle in front, with the two cars of James Pull (Carlin) and JHR’s Sennan Fielding.
Quinn began to struggle to keep up with the pair though, and despite setting two consecutive overall fastest laps towards the end of the race, he ran out of laps to challenge further.
Carlin’s Max Fewtrell scored race victory, and took over the championship lead, with Arden’s Luis Leeds second. Quinn’s Fortec Motorsports team-mate Ross Martin took third; his best result of the season.
